Jennifer Rimer speaks about how to start and run a Basket Ministry

I think that as far as how to get started doing "your own basket ministry" the main points are, you need

  1. a core group of dedicated individuals.
  2. a place designated for construction of gift baskets and storage of supplies.
  3. supplies...laundry baskets, boys and girls clothes of all sizes and seasons, toiletries, shoes, bibs, blankets, toys, and anything else that you think a new mother might need or want.
  4. in our baskets we add, a nice card with numbers that the new mom can call if she needs any additional help, either spiritual or physical.
  5. we also wrap each basket in plastic and place a bow on the top just for decoration.

Of course no one has to do the exact same thing and there are many different ways to accomplish the same goal. These really are the basic things that you need to make a basket.

To make this a sucessful project some one needs to take charge of contacting a social worker at a local hospital, or a local program for underpriveledged families. This way you can be sure that your baskets are going exactly where they need to be.
